Neil Martin Blain RM - Remembered

Honouring Neil Blain

Two members of the Branch visited Neil Blain's memorial at West Bexington, which serves as the traditional halfway point of the Lympstone to Poole race—a challenge that always held a special place in Neil's heart.

Two veterans in dress uniforms and green berets stand by a memorial stone with a poppy wreath in a seaside village.

As we stood by his memorial, we were reminded of the significant influence Neil had on friends. His love for adventure and steadfast commitment which inspired many who followed in his footsteps. We cherished Neil’s enthusiasm for life and adventure, along with his numerous accomplishments during his service with

the Royal Marines.

Neil truly exemplified the essence of a bootneck: a remarkable athlete, endurance runner, and exceptional skier; there was nothing he could not conquer. Becoming a Royal Marine was his lifelong aspiration, and he began his journey early, like many others, in the Royal Marines Cadets before stepping off the train at Lympstone Commando.
