Poole Harbour 26 mile 'YOMP'

Paul Jobling

To our Members,

Dear member, I am attaching a poster with details of my crazy fund-raising idea for our RMA Poole & District Branch.

I've decided to run this event as a direct effort for us at RMA Poole. In this way, we control the monies raised and we can then make the appropriate donation to TRMC in due course.

I urge you all to support me in 3 ways;

  • Be inspired to join me in walking for as many or as few miles as you choose and seek out sponsors yourselves to add to our central pot.

  • Donate to the event via any of the methods detailed.

  • Finally, I see this as an opportunity for everyone to get involved by being there at the start and finish or pitching up at a location along the route to offer support as we pass by.

Hopefully, this event will gather momentum as the summer approaches and we can make it a classic event with all hands on deck to raise funds and enjoy being a part of our great RMA PDB.

Originally I had planned to complete this leg via Corfe Castle however, this necessitates an awful lot of walking on long roads with busy traffic. So, after chatting with Brian Maidmen, I decided to head cross country in a more direct line. I started from Ridge (just beyond Wareham on the road to Arne) and headed for Sherford bridge planing to walk onwards towards the Sandbanks ferry point. This route…

Hi Tony, and all YES I need to do this. Im intending to do this. Phase 1 has been getting the project off the ground with a Poster and Just Giving page. Im now sharing the page and poster with up to 5 people each day to try and maximise publicity and donations. I did my first training walk last week and have noted some good check points or spectator points so ill try and get something intelligent to share at a meeting. Thanks for the nudge and keep it up.
