DDay 80 Poole Quay

Writer's picture: David SippittDavid Sippitt

The branch was well represented at the DDay 80 act of remembrance at the Poole Pottery memorial this morning. So thank you to all the members who attended without you the veteran cohort would have numbered no more than a handful of regulars from The Royal Tank Regiment Association (RTRA).

The event was organised by Poole RBL, the new Charter Trust Mayor of Poole, Cllr Pete Miles addressed the assembled audience and the last post was played by a member from Poole Sea Cadets.

The Brach President laid a wreath on behalf of the RMA P&DB & Patrick Hopper was our Standard Bearer.

On completion most moved onto the US Coast Guard memorial where the RTRA placed a wreath at the memorial adjacent to the old RNLI lifeboat station.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them.
